The title "Primigenia" actually recalls the origins of the world, those aspects of natural forces that escape the control of man. The impetuous painting of Arianna Matta, instinctive, made of light and color, seems to embody the essence of the word “Primigenia”, though developing themes of absolute contemporaneity. Through a series of pictorial devices, the subjects of her paintings break down into multiple planes, triggering interferences that destabilize the gaze, creating a liquid vision of reality, which gives a sense of instability to the whole painting, expressing all the uncertainty of modern society.
Something threatening seems to be hiding among the lush vegetation protected by the majestic infrastructures, as if to underline the precariousness of the human condition: "we are all unaware of something that concerns us". Despite all of these destabilizing aspects, the atmosphere is that of privileged places, full of peace and deep intimacy. Undoubted mastery allows the artist to guide the light inside the scene, to emphasize or hide from view portions of leaves, small ponds, large windows, large metal structures of fascinating winter gardens, totally free of human figures. The human presence is distant but, despite this 'emptiness', the vitality of the composition suggests some kind of story.
