Ana Kapor

Italian painter of Serbian origin, Ana Kapor nourishes a profound passion for her homeland revealing its most hidden charm with a metaphysical gaze.
Architectures and landscapes intersect and interpenetrate one another in a surprising stylistic balance. Medieval castles, Renaissance palaces, architectural structures recalling the “Architettura ideale” are inserted in sober and linear landscape contexts, almost bare, intensely poetic, mysterious yet reassuring. Wide views of distant horizons, ancestral atmospheres punctuated by delicate vegetation and the frequent presence of water, give rise to oases of serene beauty that Ana Kapor has always pursued and narrated with her works.
The exhibition includes four large-format triptychs, some medium-sized paintings and a group of small paintings - cm. 15x15 and 30x30 - almost miniatures, executed in oil on panel with the tip of a brush.
On the border between reality and dream, Ana Kapor's paintings are not illusions, they are journeys through a new dimension. They are, as the title of the exhibition suggests, "Mirages", according to the definition of her husband, Vladimir Pajevic, who presents her work:
“Sometimes art offers the illusion that, through the mirage, it is possible to go back in time, reach the origin of everything. It almost seems that in Ana Kapor's paintings reality exists only in the moment in which our gaze fixes it, as if we were witnesses of something eternal. The mirage, in this context, is the force of the unreal that wants to appear true. The word itself arises from the human desire to be amazed and admire the subject of our amazement, which, even if we are aware of its fallacy, never ceases to enchant us.” (Vladimir Pajevic)
