Vera Rossi “In limine”
The new series of works presented in this exhibition is the expression of a further exploration of Vera Rossi's long-standing research into the concept of interior/exterior, both physically and figuratively, as suggested by the title "In limine" - a Latin phrase meaning "on the threshold," "on the edge."

The setting of the shots is constantly the same one: a charming historic family home, a place that speaks to the artist’s soul and simultaneously a non-place, a transposition of many reflections and an expression of infinite variations. After all, just as music has a "theme and variations," Vera Rossi's artistic research seems to be aimed at developing an underlying melody and all its possible variations, even remarkably different ones, which the author skillfully captures with her shots, her highly personal post-production interventions, and above all, her remarkable sensibility.
As the author explains:
"For many years, my work has revolved around a constellation of recurring subjects, meditated upon over time: natural elements, windows, and environments permeated by the silent dimension of everyday life.
Returning to the same place does not represent a limit, but an indispensable, almost ritualistic gesture, through which to capture the subtle variations that time deposits, opening up unexpected possibilities. It is through repetition that the image transforms, revealing new and almost imperceptible forms of apparition.
The window is configured as a threshold: a passageway between the domestic interior and the natural exterior, between what seems immobile and what is constantly traversed by change. Inside, the objects are in a state of quiet; outside, plants, flowers, and atmospheric agents form a living material, exposed to time, chance, and care.
In this sense, my work also develops through direct action on space, inside and beyond the window: practices such as gardening or the introduction of new elements become an integral part of the process, modifying the environment or landscape.
The intervention continues in post-production, understood as a further space of opportunities, where the image can be guided towards a form closer to the inner vision that generated it.
I don't consider post-production a secondary moment, but rather part of a unified process in which the different phases intertwine and reflect each other. From this perspective, the idea of purist photography loses its centrality, making room for an open practice that doesn't seek rigid definitions or precise affiliations. What interests me is preserving a formal freedom capable of embracing different techniques, tools, and forms of expression, including apparent technical errors, whenever these prove useful in shaping the images I seek.
